About the Department/Unit

Kogod's Student Development Team promotes and enhances our students' experiences outside of the classroom. With the primary goal of ensuring student success, we host co-curricular programs, advise student organizations, provide personal and leadership development opportunities, and support students' success and well-being. We are a hard-working, creative, flexible, and resourceful team who enjoys working together and with campus partners to help students achieve their goals.

Summary/Objective

The Coordinator, Student Development guides the student experience in the Kogod School of Business by complementing and enhancing the curricular experience through experiential learning opportunities. The position will coordinate campus and community engagement opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the Kogod School of Business, manage approximately 15 student organizations, support programs specifically for our international student population, and provide program support for large-scale events.

Essential Functions

  1. Student Engagement: Facilitate opportunities for all Kogod students to engage more deeply in the Kogod student experience, at AU, and in the wider DC community.  Manage the Educational Enhancement Fund (promoting student participation in conferences, career fairs, and case competitions around the world), volunteer opportunities (business-focused and through coordination with the AU Center for Community Engagement and Service), and programming grants like the Business of Diversity Fund. 
  2. Student Organization Management: Facilitate leadership training and coaching for approximately 15 student organizations and their officers to ensure integration into the KSB undergraduate and graduate educational experience; assist organization in program planning; lead workshops for student leaders and faculty advisors to promote organizational developments, and liaise with AU Center for Student Involvement. Assess gaps in student organization focus and cultivate new organizations that are consistent with student interests and the competitive landscape. Assume lead responsibility for continuous quality improvement and effective learning outcomes in student organization events, programs and activities; manage the school’s club budget and monitors individual student club budgets for compliance.
  3. Program Support: Work with the Student Development team to develop and manage large-scale programs such as Kogod Case Competition, graduate orientation programming, commencement, and undergraduate retention events.
  4. International Student Support: Work with Student Development team to support programming for international students in their transition to American academic culture and their success as Kogod students. This includes being a student liaison for International Student Development and collecting and providing student insight regarding novel programming and outreach, including outreach to Kogod-bound students from the Accelerator program. Assume major role in developing and executing mentorship program.

  • Full Time - 35 hours per week.

  • This is a union-eligible position.

Salary Range

  • $53,000 - $57,000, to commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
