WAMU is member-supported, professionally-staffed, and licensed to American University. Since 1961, WAMU 88.5 has provided programming to an audience of listeners that now totals almost 1 million listeners on-air, online, and on demand.

The Membership Coordinator works as integral member of the WAMU’s membership team to support on-air and online fundraising activities as well as provide general administrative support.

Essential Functions

  1. On-Air Membership Campaigns: Under the direction of the Assistant Director Membership, Fundraising, support the planning and development of on-air fundraising campaigns for WAMU including giveaway and premium research, testimonial coordination, and working with partners on campaign offers. Support the execution of live, on-air fundraising campaigns for WAMU including production assistance, social media management and general logistical support. Support the post-campaign follow up including giveaway and premium fulfillment and reporting. Develop and execute social media plans to support fundraising priorities for campaigns and membership programs year-around. Support Assistant Director Membership, Fundraising with copy editing, copy writing and messaging development for on-air campaigns and year-around fundraising efforts.
  2. Online & Digital Fundraising Support: Support the Assistant Director Online Strategy in planning email campaigns, copy editing and message planning for email messages, list building and list updating, and maintaining the email communications calendar.
  3. 3rd Party Fundraising: Support fundraising efforts with 3rd party groups to include Combined Federal Campaign, World Bank and others as they arise. Represent WAMU at recruiting events to promote the station to current and potential members when applicable. Work with WAMU’s Marketing & Engagement Department for volunteer opportunities at recruiting events. Communicate with Combined Federal Campaign, World Bank and others to receive a list of active members so biographical and email information can be obtained and uploaded into the database.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Bi-weekly, 35 hours.
  • Coordinator/Analyst B.
  • Non-Exempt.
  • Requires some evening and weekend work.
  • This position is union-eligible.

Salary Range

  • $51,148 - $56,000, commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in fundraising or communications.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and manage fundraising initiatives.
  • Understanding of fundraising and communication concepts practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media best practices.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Suite, including Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience working with others in developing, planning and implementing interdepartmental goals and strategies.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including HTML and constituent relationship management experience.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
