Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for providing administrative support, technology support, and general office support to the Director of First Year Advising and the AUx Instructor & Advisor teams.  This work includes facilitating optimal interaction between the AUx Instructor and Advisor teams and first-year students; scheduling appointments and/or checking-in students for appointments; coordinating special projects and preparing for meetings; ordering office supplies; and managing the office mail. The work includes serving as the receptionist for the Center for First-Year Advising.

Work Environment
  • The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Director of First Year Advising, along with three (3) Assistant Directors of First Year Advising
  • This position works under general supervision

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience. 

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma/GED and 1-2 years of administrative work experience in an office environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Applicants must be detail-oriented and able to engage in and contribute to a growing program with a strong team orientation
  • Applicants must be able to multitask and work in a dynamic, high pressure, and constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Incumbent must be dependable and discreet, and comply with the office dress code
  • This individual must be able to, demonstrate initiative and ability to problem solve, have sound judgment, and be project/task oriented
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and higher education experience
