Summary/Objective

The Assistant Vice President serves as a senior administrative officer of the Office of Campus Life with responsibility for the strategic direction and administration of programs and services related to student engagement and intercultural learning. The Assistant Vice President exercises functional supervision over six administrative units: Center for Community Engagement and Service (CCES), Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), Kay Spiritual Life Center, Residence Life, Student Activities, and the Director of Military- Affiliated Student Support and Special Initiatives.

Work Environment
  • The Assistant Vice President reports directly to the Vice President of Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence and works collaboratively with three other Assistant Vice Presidents, and the Special Assistant to the Vice President
  • Reporting to this position are: the University Chaplain - Kay Spiritual Life Center, Director of the Center for Community Engagement and Service; the Senior Director of the Center for Diversity & Inclusion, the Director of Student Activities, Director of Residence Life, and the Director of Military- Affiliated Student Support and Special Initiatives
  • Responsibilities include leading the strategic direction of the portfolio focused on student engagement and intercultural learning, formulating policies and developing goals for providing high quality student services and programs that are inclusive of the university's diverse population and appropriate for a global university
  • This position is indirectly responsible for approximately 35 full-time staff, 140 work study students and part-time staff, 20 contributing faith community chaplains/representatives, and oversees budgets and restricted accounts in excess of $6,000,000
  • Expected to develop and promote/lead training, learning and development for students, professional staff and faculty in partnership with the Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Required Education and Experience
  • Master's degree and a minimum of 10+ years in Student Affairs, to include progressively responsible experience in diversity and inclusion work in a University setting, student development, and in meeting the needs of a culturally diverse community
  • Must have prior management experience leading a diverse team of professionals
  • Must demonstrate cross­ cultural competencies and computer literacy skills sufficient to carry out job-related responsibilities
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Doctoral degree in related field
