Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for assisting the Director with the implementation and management of the Center’s operations. The Center’s mission is to bring together scholars, policy experts, journalists, and advocates into teams that study racial inequity and discrimination, recommend policy correctives, and engage in effective campaigns of change. The Staff Assistant will also assist with the Center’s budget, event planning, and external communications.

Salary Range

  • $20.40 - $23.40/hr

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a relevant field

  • Someone who is self-motivated, requires minimal supervision, and demonstrates excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills

  • Must be able to manage an office responsibly, compile and maintain documents with a high degree of accuracy and possess the ability to handle many tasks simultaneously

  • Working proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

  • Able to work with confidential documents and issues in a discrete and professional manner

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience at an academic institution or non-profit

  • Previous experience in maintaining a budget preferred.

  • Experience with organizing travel and event logistics desirable
