Summary/Objective

The Associate Director, Advancement Data Analysis and Reporting (“Associate Director”) is responsible for all operational reporting projects to include list generation, descriptive statistical analyses, and maintaining self-service reporting templates in support of the university’s fundraising and alumni relations goals; all data outputs from the system of record, Ellucian CRM Advance, and future reporting platforms and configurations (SSRS/BI); and the implementation of protocols and procedures governing the use of reporting and analytics tools by the division of Development and Alumni Relations. As the vice-leader of the department of Advancement Reporting and Analytics, the Associate Director supervises staff responsible for data analysis/report/list generation (all data output) and partners across Advancement Operations to effectively implement standardized business processes for DAR data and its systems.

Work Environment

  • This position reports directly to the Director, Reporting and Analytics and supervises a part-time Advancement Data Analysis and Reporting student worker
  • The Associate Director has no overall budget responsibilities or authority but will be responsible for bringing their insights and experience to inform analytics and reporting strategies in order to build a robust and nuanced reporting and BI environment for DAR

  • This position may require occasional evening and weekend work for time-sensitive projects and participation in scheduled divisional events such as All-American Weekend (AU’s alumni and family weekend), the annual Scholarship Luncheon, and the annual President’s Circle Dinner

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years of relevant work experience in the field of data analysis, reporting, data integrity, prospect research, and/or data verification
  • Familiarity with advancement and/or sales database systems (Ellucian CRM Advance and/or Microsoft Dynamics a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving proficient use in at least one such business tool
  • Demonstrated professional experience using software for data analysis (Microsoft Access, Excel, SAS, MicroStrategy, or other)
  • A positive and collaborative professional philosophy, recognizing that the functions of this role are integral to the achievement of the division’s development and alumni relations goals and objectives
  • Understanding of and inquisitiveness in technology integration, reporting platforms, individual records management, and overall approaches to information accuracy
  • Proficiency using MS Office suite, particularly MS Access, Excel, and Word
  • Meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and thoroughness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated success in communicating policies and procedures to employees or clients
  • Unquestionable discretion and ability to process confidential information in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds
  • Maturity, sound judgment, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of SQL or R
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and SCRUM framework for project management a plus
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated understanding and interest in higher education, fundraising and alumni relations priorities, best practices, and general operations
