Summary/Objective

The Coordinator, Academic Success Coaching supports undergraduate and graduate students in achieving their academic goals through one-on-one academic success coaching. Academic success coaching includes topics such as time and task management, goal setting, overcoming procrastination, exam preparation, and reading and notetaking strategies. The Coordinator will work with students on an individual basis to strengthen academic skills and develop strategies for overcoming academic obstacles. Key responsibility centers on delivering academic coaching for students proactively seeking academic support.

 

The Coordinator, Academic Success Coaching is responsible for the overall implementation and coordination of academic success programming and academic skills workshops for undergraduate students, graduate students, and staff at American University. The Coordinator collaborates with campus partners to develop and implement academic success programs and creates data-driven academic success services to support retention, student success rates, and graduation efforts.

Work Environment

This position works under general supervision.

35-Exempt

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in student development and developing resources to promote student success at the collegiate level
  • Working knowledge of database and scheduling systems
  • Relevant academic success and skills coaching experience
  • Teaching, presentation, or facilitation experience
  • Experience with Blackboard
  • Technical skills in MS Excel
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
