The Space Administrator and Analyst will support the university’s goals of improving space utilization efficiency and creating and implementing an executable plan for strategic space management.  As a member of the Office of Space Planning and Management (OSPM), and reporting to the Director of Planning and Project Development, this position administers space data, conducts preliminary space analyses, and makes recommendations to fulfill space requests.  The incumbent will conduct audits of all university space and provide analysis that supports recommendations regarding the re-utilization and reassignment of space. The incumbent will develop standards, metrics, and guidelines for space utilization, and provide input regarding space policies and procedures.  This position will interface with a broad range of stakeholders within the American University (AU) community.  A highly effective Space Administrator and Analyst will work closely with others in gathering and analyzing the university’s space data, and managing Archibus, AU’s space information management system.  This position will work closely with other university data analysts to develop and refine space metrics and report this information in a manner that supports effective space utilization across the university.

Essential Functions

  1. Audit and Administration: Perform regular audits and other activities as needed, to ensure the accuracy of Archibus space information. Administer Archibus and other space and occupancy data to ensure it accurately reflects information including, but not necessarily limited to, current occupancy, utilization, layout, and attributes of each building.
  2. Analytics and Reporting: Provide data analysis, reporting, and interpretation to ensure that planning recommendations and proposed solutions for addressing space needs are supported with a high degree of data accuracy. Develop and document data structures and processes as needed to organize, collect, cleanse, and standardize data to effectively generate insights and address reporting needs.
  3. Other: Manage and/or support special OSPM projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, data science, architecture, space planning, or related field or equivalent combination and education and experience.
  • Three years’ experience in space or data administration, architecture, space planning, or related experience.
  • Experience administering and analyzing space databases.
  • Experience in accessing and analyzing data using different databases and enterprise systems.
  • Experience generating, aggregating, and coordinating similar and dissimilar data in varying formats.
  • Experience in the use of spreadsheets, presentation programs & databases.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Five years’ experience in space or data administration, architecture, space planning, or related experience.
  • Experience using ARCHIBUS.
  • Experience in space administration and analytics for an organization of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience with principles, methods, and best practices of space management and analysis.
