Summary/Objective
The International and Comparative Legal Studies Programs (ICLS) Coordinator provides assistance to the Director, WCL Abroad and International Programs, handles general office administrative duties for the International and Comparative Legal Studies (ICLS), answering both staff and students’ inquires, answering phone and email inquiries, ordering office supplies, booking rooms and ordering catering for various events, managing suite’s common spaces, and provided support to the Director of the ICLS Programs and other members of ICLS team as needed.
The incumbent will help with the planning and implementation of International Suite events, including the weekly International Suite Talks series, Annual Grotius Lecture, Annual International Legal Education Abroad and LLM Administrators Conference, WCL Abroad and other International Suite’s sponsored and co-sponsored events. Provides administrative and logistical support for certificate programs: the English for Lawyers and Spanish for Lawyer, and all short term programming (such as CEJA, Chuo University, Telecom, and any other future short programs).
The incumbent will work closely with Director of WCL Abroad and International Programs and Director of ICLS, WCL Finance, IT, Office of Academic Affairs, and Registrar. This position interacts regularly with university, law school administrative/program offices and foreign visitors and organizations.
Essential Functions

Assist in the planning and implementation of International Suite events, including the weekly International Suite Talks series, Annual Grotius Lecture, International Legal Education Abroad and LLM Administrators Annual Conference, WCL Abroad and other International Suite’s sponsored and co-sponsored events by Coordinating dates/timing of events through Doodle polls; creating and distributing event flyers, helping with marketing and social media.

Provides administrative and logistical support for WCL Abroad and certificate programs: the English for Lawyers and Spanish for Lawyer, and all short term programming (such as CEJA, Chuo University, Telecom, and any other future short program) by responding to inquiries in a very timely manner with individualized responses; Creating and managing an Excel sheet for each program on interested applicants to send a personalized email when the next registration period has opened; Sending personalized reminder emails to applicants with incomplete applications to try to turn them from perspective students into enrolled students.

This position handles general office administrative duties for the International Suite, answering both staff and students’ inquires, answering phone and email inquiries, ordering office supplies, booking rooms and ordering catering for various events, managing suite’s common spaces; provides administrative and logistical support to ICLS staff; assist staff with any tasks needed- creating spreadsheets, drafting emails and documents, create and track Doodle polls, coordinating with other offices to answer questions or resolve problems (Common examples: OIT, Office of Finance, and Registrar’s Office, and performs other necessary duties to support International Suite.

Salary Range
- Minimum $50,000/year, commensurate with experience.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree.

2-4 years of relevant experience.

Strong organizational, written and verbal skills.

Computer/word processing/spreadsheet skills.

The ability to work in a very diverse community.
Preferred Education and Experience

Experience with event planning and multicultural experience.

Speaking a second language.

That means the terms and conditions of your employment are governed by university policy (including the Staff Personnel Policies Manual) and any collective bargaining agreement entered into between American University and SEIU Local 500.
