Marketing Manager, CAS (3640)

In consultation with the Dean and the Associate/Assistant Deans, the person in this position provides marketing leadership and manages publicity for College programs, events, and initiatives using effective marketing strategies to ensure that CAS goals are met. Collaborates with Media Relations, University Publications, University Marketing, CAS Development and Alumni, the American University Museum, and all of the academic units within the College, as well as other offices campus-wide, in order to accomplish the mission of the College and to ensure compliance with University standards. Works with the CAS graduate admissions office recruitment and retention team to help achieve CAS enrollment targets, and with the CAS undergraduate admissions office to promote programs. This position requires self-direction and minimal supervision.

Work Environment

  • This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Communications & Outreach
  • Reporting to this position are part-time workers to assist with marketing and communications initiatives, usually focusing on photography and videography
  • The nature of the role this position plays within the organization is to lead marketing, publicity, and recruitment efforts for the College

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 35-Exempt
  • Project Leader/Advisor B

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in training and/or experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in an education setting, preferably in academic administration, marketing, or admissions, with at least two years involving management responsibilities
  • Demonstrated success with effective marketing and advertising principles and publishing practices
  • Knowledge of HTML, social media software, email marketing software, Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, Photoshop, Indesign, and content management systems
  • Willingness to learn other computer systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree
