Part-time Event Assistant

Summary/Objective

The Event Assistant will assist with a portfolio of strategic, high-level events, many hosted by the President of American University, designed to advance the university’s philanthropic goals. 

The Event Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Director, Special Events.   

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 20-27-Nonexempt

Salary Range

  • $18.00 - $25.00/hr

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven record of creation and execution of high-level donor events
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Successful candidate must be energetic self-starter, can set priorities, and work independently
     

Preferred Education and Experience

  • The successful candidate will understand higher education and a commitment to the values and role of a private, liberal arts university
  • Familiarity with fundraising systems and strong command of MS Office Suite of products

 

Other Duties

  • Fields general donor relations inquiries made to the Office of Development, perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Special Events Stewardship and Donor Relations or in fulfillment of the objectives of the Donor Relations and Advancement Communications Team
