The Part-Time Research Analyst works under the direction of the Director of Prospect Development to identify potential major gift prospects, verify wealth screening results, and perform moves management tasks to support fundraising strategies for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, and maintain accurate records in our database of record. The Part-Time Research Analyst will analyze online and internal sources to gauge philanthropic capacity and propensity of major gift prospects. Other duties may include prospect analysis and producing prospect bios to support major gift cultivation and solicitation.

Work Environment

  • This is a part-time, hybrid remote position. In-person operations are located at the 4401 Connecticut Avenue location (one block from the Van Ness metro).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Up to 27 hours/week.

Salary Range

  • $15.20/hr. to $19.00/hr based on experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in prospect research or similar roles involving development (preferably in a higher education setting), Internet-based research, financial analysis, or data management.
  • Experience with research techniques and proficiency in interpreting and verifying online, library and government sources.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to synthesize data found through research into clear, concise documents adhering to the AU style guide.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated experience successfully working with persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and demonstrate strong attention to detail in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word (merges, advanced formatting), MS Excel (including filtering, equations), and MS Access (queries, mail merges, forms).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Familiarity with relational databases such as Ellucian CRM Advance and/or online databases such as LexisNexis, WealthEngine, Foundation Search, and iWave is a plus.
