Summary/Objective

This position provides oversight for campus wide pest services with responsibility for responding to and follow up for all pest issues on the American University campus including the development of treatment and exclusion plans, scheduling inspections and overseeing pest service contract technicians.

Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment

  • Weekend and overtime work will be required for weather and other emergency situations
  • This position requires local travel to and from campus facilities to provide pest control services

Salary Range

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience

  • DC and EPA Pesticide Applicator Certification required or must be obtained within the probationary period
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Skill in the operation of pest services/grounds equipment. 
  • Knowledge of pest services practices and standards, measuring and calculations as related to pest control
  • Knowledge of pest control methods and where to find information on those which he/she is not familiar
  • Knowledge of work methods, equipment, and procedures to assure health and safety standards and precautions are in compliance with District, EPA, Green Building and OSHA regulations, standards and requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide high levels of customer service and exercise tact and diplomacy while interacting with faculty, staff, students and parent on sensitive matters
