Summary/Objective

As a member of American University’s Office of Human Resources Recruitment Team, the Recruiter will assist with the evolution of AU’s strategic recruiting function. Serving as a primary point of contact for both applicants and hiring departments, the Recruiter actively manages the life-cycle recruiting process of full-time staff searches at the university. Additionally, the Recruiter acts in consult to hiring managers, providing guidance and a la carte recruitment services to include; strategic sourcing, pre-screening, development of competency-based behavioral interview guides, scheduling assistance, conducting reference and background checks, and providing consult on offers of employment. The Recruiter also provide support for on-boarding activities.

 

In accordance with the university’s strategic plan, this role works closely with other Recruitment Team members to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce that proactively attracts diverse talent via outreach and networking.

 

This position reports to the Director of Recruitment and is a collaborative team member of the Human Resources team.

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in training and experience
  • 3-5 years of recruiting or related human resource experience
  • Strong quality service practices
  • Core knowledge of HR compliance and applicable district and federal laws, regulations, and statutes
  • Current knowledge of recruiting best practices and trends
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Customer focused with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Collaboratively focused 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and applicant tracking systems

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience building and facilitating trainings
  • Experience working with and managing vendors and search firms
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter/Recruiter Lite
