The Recycling Associate’s role within the Facilities Management is to ensure the success of the campus waste and recycling program through detailed management of the campus waste streams. This includes collection of recycling and waste throughout campus and depositing these materials in the proper locations on campus. Other duties include performing campus clean-up activities such as litter pickup, power washing, street sweeping, snow and ice removal, parking garage cleaning, and operating equipment in order to ensure the cleanliness of campus.

Work Environment

  • This Recycling Associate position reports to the Recycling Supervisor in the Grounds Department of Facilities Management
  • May be assigned to assist with work within and outside unit

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 40-Nonexempt
  • Associate B

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience

Required Education and Experience

  • High School graduate, G.E.D. equivalent
  • 1-year exterior cleaning, landscape or construction experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of work methods, equipment, and procedures to assure health and safety standards and precautions are applied to work performed
  • Ability to read, interprets, and follows written orders, carries out verbal instructions

Preferred Education and Experience

General knowledge of university recycling programs

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Incumbent may be requested to serve on various department and/or university committees
