Summary/Objective
Essential Functions
-
Plans, reviews and supervises the management of a wide range of accounting activities relating to one of three functional areas within the unit. Interprets governmental, university or contractual financial regulations and establishes means to implement effective procedures for compliance. Update (4/04): Coordinates the University’s Capital Campaign financial reporting. Supervises the preparation of year-end audit work-papers.

Responsible for the preparation of various financial reports. Supervises staff in the reconciliation of university transactions and reports with third party documents. Acts as liaison between the Controller’s Office and the University’s operating units in the processing and review of financial transactions.

Updates and maintains various system data tables. Coordinates documentation of system changes.

Coordinates audit work with the University’s internal and external auditors. Prepares audit work papers for the use of external auditors.

Other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the Controller, the Director of Accounting.

Indirectly supervises 1 Staff Accountant

This position reports directly to the University Accounting Manager.

Salary Range
- $70,000 to $77,000 annually
Required Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in related field
-
Three to five years’ experience or combination of education and experience which demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities needed to perform the job

Must have the ability to work independently

Effective written and oral communication skills
-
Working experience either as an auditor of or accountant for a large non-profit organization
Preferred Education and Experience
-
Professional certification preferred.
