About the Department/Unit

The Department of Neuroscience integrates faculty throughout the College of Arts and Sciences into a range of projects aimed at understanding the interrelationships between the brain and behavior. Neuroscience and affiliated faculty support degrees in numerous related programs, in addition to the BS and PhD.

Summary/Objective

The Senior Administrative Assistant supports the administrative functions of the Neuroscience programs of the College of Arts and Sciences including the Undergraduate Neuroscience program (NEUR), the Behavior, Cognition and Neuroscience Ph.D. program (BCaN), the Center for Neuroscience and Behavior. This position involves organizing, scheduling and coordinating the activities of these entities, as well as serving as a point of contact for students, faculty, university constituents and external members of the neuroscience community.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Oversee the work of part-time staff and student assistants to ensure competent completion of tasks in a timely manner.

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to manage program activities responsibly, compile and maintain documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Working proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Doodle or other scheduling software.
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently to troubleshoot any problems as they arise in the administrative units.
  • Must be comfortable contacting and working with a variety of students, administrators, staff, and faculty from across the campus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience interacting and communicating with undergraduate and graduate students within a university setting.
  • Previous experience in organizing and coordinating the operations and activities of large, multi-disciplinary research center as well managing the operation of an individual research program.
