Part-Time Environmental Justice Programming Assistant

Summary/Objective

  • The Environmental Justice Programming Assistant will assist in the development and logistical planning around the soon to be launched Environmental Justice Fellows Program being spearheaded by the Institute for Carbon Removal Law and Policy.

Essential Functions

  1. Research: Diligent research around the intersections around carbon dioxide removal mechanisms and the Environmental Justice Community at large, with a strong focus on North America. Investigation into dynamics within the EJ community and identification of potential working partners. Identifying potential locations of CDR development within the U.S. and the frontline communities that may be impacted. Fellowship and summer school programs that can provide a roadmap for strategic planning.
  2. Event planning and travel coordination: Booking travel including flights, hotels, ground transportation, etc. for up to 30 people at a time, for multiple locations throughout the U.S. Identifying and securing various venues for meetings in D.C. and in multiple locations throughout the U.S. Arranging meal services, including catering, for groups of up to 30 people in in D.C. and in multiple locations throughout the U.S. Various other event planning duties as needed.
  3. Communications and outreach: Maintaining contact with the established group of EJ Fellows, tracking activities and progress, and addressing any needs or concerns in a professional and timely manner. Social media outreach and engagement around EJ Fellowship activities and developments.
  4. Budgeting: Developing a budget around the needs of the EJ Fellowship Program. Tracking all expenses relating to the EJ Fellowship Program, ensuring the program stays within budget.
  5. Other miscellaneous administrative duties as needed.

Work Environment

  • Potential travel up to 3 weeks per year.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Part-Time
  • Senior Coordinator/Analyst A.
  • Exempt.
  • 10-15 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience at in administrative positions.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Event coordination, program development, educational outreach & engagement with frontline, BIPOC communities.
