Position Summary

The Audio Visual Student Technician assists with the setup and operation of audiovisual equipment for classes, conferences, and special events. The student technician also helps the office maintain staff presence by answering the phone at the Audio Visual reception desk, and may assist with AV scheduling. 

Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Setting up AV equipment around the campus.
  2. Assisting with classroom and event support.
  3. Recording AV orders.
  4. Creating and compiling DVDs and digital audio files.
  5. Organizing equipment and replacing defective or malfunctioning equipment.

Expected Hours of Work

  • 15-20 hours a week.

Salary Range

  • $16.10 -$18.00/hour.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be a current AU student.

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of video recording techniques, and a basic understanding of signal flow for both audio and video.
  • Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous AV experience or a background in audio technology or visual media.
  • Familiarity with Mac and PC computers, DVD players, projection systems, PA systems, video cameras, digital audio recorders, as well as basic and advanced control systems.
