About the Department/Unit

The Career Center is a bustling office full of opportunity for part-time student employees. Students work alongside nearly 30 full-time staff members and help to deliver career services and resources to thousands of AU students and alumni. Many student employees re-up with the Career Center year after year and eventually go on to land high quality internships, national scholarships, and great full-time jobs after graduation.


Join the Career Center team and work with two Career Advisors for the College of Arts and Science (CAS)/School of Education (SOE), and School of International Service (SIS) to support career services and resources for the students. This position will involve creating and producing a monthly newsletter for CAS and SOE, using social media to reach CAS/SOE/SIS students, as well as working on special projects as needed, e.g. career panels/career nights, preparing materials for workshops, creating short videos on career topics, or updating career resources for specific majors.
This position uses and develops skills in critical thinking, written communication, technology, and teamwork. The position also provides opportunities to demonstrate and strengthen professionalism and leadership competencies.

Educational Requirements:

Incoming or current AU student.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a FWS award for the current academic year
  • Must be residing in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during school year
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and take direction
  • Strong time management skills to complete projects and report results in a timely manner
  • Comfort working with social media platforms
  • Positive attitude

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with creating videos

Salary Range

  • $16.10-$16.50/hour

Hours per Week

5-7 hours per week.
