The Career Center is a bustling office full of opportunity for part-time student employees. Students work alongside nearly 30 full-time staff members and help to deliver career services and resources to thousands of AU students and alumni. Many Career Center student employees go on to land high quality internships, national scholarships, and great full-time jobs after graduation.

Position Summary

The Educational Career Programs and Resources Assistant (ECPRA) works under the Assistant Director of Career Education and supports the successful planning, execution, and data reporting of educational career programs. The ECPRA will also assist with the management of career resources including evaluating potential resources for inclusion on Career Center webpages and contributing to the monthly Career Resources Newsletter.

This is a great opportunity to have influence over educational career programs, events, and resources. The ECPRA will be at the frontlines as the AU Career Center implements a new modality of career programming and experiments with its hybrid event set-up in 2022-2023.

This position will use and develop skills in verbal and written communication, data & digital technology, teamwork/collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  1. Set-up and facilitation of planned educational career programs/events.
  2. Technical Zoom support during virtual and hybrid events (for example, managing panelists in Zoom webinar).
  3. Event check-in and attendance taking.
  4. Entering attendance data into Handshake in a timely manner.
  5. Writing content (3-5 sentences) for the Career Resources Newsletter (monthly).
  6. Performing initial reviews of potential, new, career resources and documenting feedback on a MS SharePoint site (1-2 resources/week).
  7. As needed (2-3 times per semester), support for employer programming and events.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Incoming or current AU student.
  2. Federal Work Study Award.
  3. Must reside in DC, MD, or VA during time of employment.
  4. Willingness to ask for assistance when needed, and a receptive attitude toward constructive feedback.
  5. Flexibility to adapt to event needs in the moment and troubleshoot issues that may occur during hybrid events. For example, issues with video connection during Zoom webinar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Zoom webinar and Handshake.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment such as lapel microphones, HD webcams etc.

Hours per Week

  • 3-5.

Hourly Wage

  • $16.25/hour.

Work Environment

  • Required physical presence on campus; opportunity to work some hours remote depending on time of semester and assigned duties.
