Makerspace Student Assistant

Summary/Objective

The Makerspace Student Assistant supports the operations of the AU Library Makerspace. In this role, the Student Assistant staffs the Makerspace, maintains and helps patrons use the equipment and tools (i.e. 3D Printers, Carvey, Large Format Printer, Vinyl Cutter, etc.), provides excellent customer service, and answers general questions about the Library.

Essential Functions

  • Operating the department’s machines to assist in a patron's requests
  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment/tools and reporting of broken items
  • Answering patron emails
  • Maintaining inventory of the Makerspace’s tools and consumable materials.

Salary Range

  • $15.20/hour

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • High level of honesty and integrity, with excellent customer service, interpersonal, organization, communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and handle payment transactions. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Familiarity with the Library of Congress call number system.
  • Experience with CAD software (such as those in the Autodesk Suite), multi-line phone systems, as well as basic troubleshooting skills also desirable.
