Position Summary
The part-time building operations supervisor provides support to the building operations coordinator through the monitoring of building maintenance issues and maintenance of supplies at desks around the library. The part-time building operations supervisor ensures the security and well-being of library patrons, employees, and the library collection by monitoring conditions and activities throughout the library, enforcing library policies, providing information to library visitors and responding to emergencies. In addition, the incumbent has a general leadership role in the operations team providing support and guidance as needed to part-time student assistants at the Information Desk, Graduate Research Center, Print Center, and Receiving Room. Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions

Monitoring the library building for maintenance issues and submitting maintenance request tickets to Facilities Management (2-Fix)

Following up on maintenance request tickets to ensure the timely completion of repairs

Supporting the building operations coordinator for various building projects

Patrolling all floors of the library to enforce library policies and maintain a comfortable and inviting learning environment

Providing customer service to library patrons at the Information Desk

Opening and closing the building to library users and controlling staff entrance into the building before the library’s opening hours
Expected Hours of Work
21 hours-27 hours a week
Salary Range
$19.00/Hour
Required Education
At least 2 years of undergraduate education is required. Must be a current AU student
Minimum Requirements
Ability to be assertive, exercise sound judgment and to recognize and resolve problems. Prior customer service experience in a professional setting and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills and general knowledge of library resources and the operations of all Library service desks. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Requirements
Some managerial experience and/or prior library experience. General knowledge of campus and library facilities and locations is helpful.
Others
This position is considered “essential” in the event of university closings, and the incumbent must assist in emergencies and be prepared to staff all public service desks in case of staff shortage.
Availability on Saturdays from 3PM or 4PM until 9PM is required for this position. Other shifts will generally either be opening (7:30AM Start) or Middle Shifts (2/3PM Start) based on availability and Library need with some flexibility available for Classes as needed.
