Summary/Objective

The Recruitment Team is a creative, dedicated, and collaborative team within American University’s Office of Human Resources. The team supports the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding of all full-time staff members of the university, which equivocates to approximately 300-400 hires per year. The Recruitment Team strives to be innovative and customer-focused.

We are seeking a Recruitment Assistant to provide support to the Recruitment Team, comprised of the Director of Recruiting, 3 Recruiters, Senior Coordinator of Employee Experience, Recruitment Specialist, and the Ready Hire Program Coordinator. The Recruitment Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide front line customer service regarding all recruiting matters  
  • Answer phones, take messages, and field basic customer questions/concerns
  • Post all new jobs to external default job boards and audit those that need to be taken offline
  • Support Recruiters on open searches, such as scheduling interviews and/or checking professional references
  • Monitor team email accounts and answer basic customer questions/concerns
  • Document review and filing  
  • Maintain office supplies  
  • Perform research and external projects as requested

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 20-35 hours/week
  • Position hours are flexible within office hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday
  • Should preferably be available to work on Wednesdays and Fridays

Salary Range

  • $13.25/hr

Required Education and Experience

  • Experience providing administrative support
  • Professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to work with a high level of discretion
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Reliable
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior experience and/or an interest in the Human Resources industry is preferred
