Research Assistant - Blockchain Hub

Summary/Objective

The role of the Research Assistant is to support the Co-Directors in ensuring that the activities of the Blockchain Hub are executed as efficiently and effectively as possible to achieve the Hub’s objectives. They will be responsible for basic research on a variety of subjects related to blockchain and other emerging technologies. They will assist in coordinating various aspects of the annual Blockchain Forum (e.g., logistics, sponsorship, marketing, speaker/panelist signup and background curation, etc.). In addition, they will also be responsible for planning and coordinating meetings and other events with different Hub committees and stakeholders. They will create Blockchain Hub related content for all social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Facebook Live, Instagram, newsletter, etc.). They will regularly update the benchmarking of the Blockchain Hub in comparison to other national and global organizations of its kind.

 

Education Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be a person who is on track to receive their bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Grad students may also apply.
  • The position requires basic experience in research and strong communication skills as well as being a go-getter and willing to go the extra mile attitude.
  • The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of blockchain technology.

Minimum Requirements

  • It is essential to have excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • This position will require strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects.
  • Additionally, they must have strong “people skills.”
  • The ideal candidate will also be able to confidently navigate the American University Library’s selection of databases for academic resources on Blockchain and other emerging technologies.
  • Having secondary research experience is very important.
  • To succeed in this position the candidate must be flexible, willing to take on responsibilities as they arise, and have the ability to work a range of 1-15 hours per week with an average of 10.
