Research Assistant in Literature with Sarah Trembath - Federal Work Study Wages

Date: Jan 12, 2021

Location: Washington, DC, US, 20016

Company: American University

Summary/Objective

Professor Sarah Trembath (Dept. of Literature) is seeking to hire a student with a federal work-study award to assist with conducting, coordinating, and compiling preliminary research through questionnaires and autoethnographic student reflections. The research assistant will assist Prof. Trembath in gathering information and coordinating with another WSP professor and their students who will serve as the control group. Professor Trembath's area of research relates to the impact of problematically biased commercially produced K-12 history textbooks on world-view development and first-year students’ expressions of it. It also will explore exposure to counternarratives to textbook biases as an emotional experience and look for emotion regulation techniques that help students with cognitive dissonance over new, worldview-challenging information. The project may be of interest to students interested in psychology, education, or research methods.
