Technology, Law & National Security Communications Assistant

The Technology, Law & Security Program at WCL seeks individuals with social media, graphic design, administrative, and/or web development skills. This position will work closely with the TLS team to establish and maintain TLS marketing initiatives. The assistant will help maintain TLS social media sites, design web and print materials, and work on marketing campaigns for a range of TLS programs and events.

Essential Functions

  1. Use social media to promote TLS events and programs. TLS uses Twitter and LinkedIn.
  2. Research relevant content to share through TLS platforms.
  3. Design web and print materials.
  4. Assist with marketing campaigns.
  5. Assist with event logistics and calendar management.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 8 - 10 hours and partial remote maybe available

Salary Range

  • $15.20 per hour

Required Education and Experience

  • Incoming or current AU student. Undergraduates or Graduate students welcome
  • At least one year of prior work experience in any field.
  • Successful candidates will have social media creation experience; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be residing in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during school year.
  • Must have a Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Photography, video production, and graphic design skills are a plus. Public relations, marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism, and political science majors preferred.
  • Some experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design software is also preferred.
