Training and Education Graduate Assistant

The Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) is seeking a graduate student to provide support to the Center’s educational programs and training initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manage the development of CDI’s Peer Educator program

Expectations/ Responsibilities

  • Support facilitation and design of educational programs, workshops, and training
  • Manage program logistics and implementation of educational programs, workshops, and trainings
  • Manage development of CDI’s Peer Educator program
  • Research, assess, and benchmark other campus education & support programs
  • Manage Workshops email account
  • Organize reports to track completed trainings and requests
  • Develop and monitor training assessment platform for each completed training
  • Provide administrative support for & during Center’s programs & operations to admit participants, track attendance, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned with general office tasks

  • Knowledgeable of multi-layered aspects of identity, including ability, race, religious belief and practice, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, racial identity and ethnicity.
  • Works well with diverse students, staff, and faculty on collaborative projects
  • Ability to provide program recommendations based on students’ needs

  • Experience with academic, social, cultural and identity-based programs and services
  • Previous teaching, training, and/or event planning experience is recommended
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; website development; able to learn new programs; and comfortable with technology 

Preferred Education

  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and enrollment in an American University graduate program for the 2021-2022 academic year (AU graduate students enrolling Fall 2021 can apply).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This position will work up to 20 hours per week, occasional evenings, and require some weekend hours.
  • This role will also be required to conduct campus-wide trainings.


  • This position pays $16 per hour.
  • There are no tuition benefits available for this position.
