Data Assistant (FWS)

The Data Assistant will work with the Assistant Director, Alumni Career Programs in the Career Center to collect, categorize, clean, and assemble data about alumni volunteers and engagement in and related to Career Center functions. The data collected will be reported to the Office of Alumni Relations, where they will be incorporated into larger assessments of overall alumni engagement. The Data Assistant will assemble individual and aggregate data, enter data into CRM and/or Handshake, assist in compiling the Alumni Career Programs annual report, and conduct research from Handshake and CRM to find data on alumni as needed. The incumbent will also be available to assist the Outreach and Assessment Assistant with data collection and/or entry for the university’s Graduation Census. Other duties as assigned.

This position uses and develops skills in quantitative/technology, collaboration/teamwork, and ethical decision making.

Work Environment

The Career Center is a bustling office full of opportunity for part-time student employees. Students work alongside nearly 30 full-time staff members and help to deliver career services and resources to thousands of AU students and alumni. Many student employees continue working with the Career Center year after year and eventually go on to land high quality internships, national scholarships, and great full-time jobs after graduation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This position is open to students with an available Federal Work Study award
  • 4-5 hours/week
  • This position will be remote as long as the Career Center and Office of Alumni Relations are operating remotely, at least through December 2020
Salary Range
  • $15-$16/hr.
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience working in large databases; familiarity with Handshake reporting; familiarity with Ellucian CRM Advance.

  • Technological savvy; ability to learn new systems; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
